Love… Amongst the Acrylic Fumes

You’ve heard of love at first sight, right? What about love amongst the acrylic fumes?

Yeah, probably not, but that’s how Dr. Datwyler described his first encounter with his wife, Dr. Jen Datwyler. Intrigued? Dr. Datwyler was a lab instructor at Oregon Health Sciences University where Jen was a student. He was teaching her and her dental school friends how to make a retainer. Of course, he noticed her, but it was Jen who made the first move and asked him out. Dr. Datwyler said that it didn’t take long for him to know that she was the one.

Dr. Datwyler is still woozy, but not from acrylic fumes. It’s his love for his wife whom he describes as having integrity and a strong work ethic. She does what needs to be done and still takes care of their family. She’s a balanced person who he says is also a good person. He’s so proud of her.

So, the next time you’re thinking about your retainer whether you don’t like wearing it or hardly notice it, raise it in the air and say, “To the Datwylers!”
